Czech-Mate: Yana Gupta Turns 32!

When she burst on to the screen with babuji zara dheere chalo, people indeed slowed down and took notice. And now she's all set to scorch screens with her take on the Zeenat Aman classic, Laila o Laila. The sensuous number features in Chalo Dilli which is releasing barely a week after her birthday (23rd April). Now this certainly calls for a double celebration!

Born Jana Synková Dutta to a Czech father and an Indian mother in Brno, Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic), Yana began modelling in the mid-1990s. On one of her trips to India, she met and later married artist Satyakam Gupta and changed her last name from Synkova to Gupta. Though she divorced Gupta in 2005, she stayed back in India to pursue her career.

A seasoned model, Yana has appeared on the cover of Elle, Cosmopolitan, Femina, and Maxim. She even modelled for the Kingfisher calendar as well as for international clients such as Calvin Klein and Victoria's Secret.

She made her B'Town debut in the babuji zara dheere chalo item number from the movie Dum, which became an instant hit with the masses. An appearance in the Dr Zeus album 'Back Unda Da Influence' and item numbers in Rakht, Tamil blockbuster Anniyan and Telugu film Gharshana followed.

Yana was one of the strongest contenders on Khatron Ke Khiladi and even appeared on the dancing reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 4. Her recent laila o laila' number from Chalo Dilli was appreciated by none other than the original dancing diva Zeenat Aman.

As she turns 32, we wish Yana all the joy in the world and hope that she continues to entertain audiences with her 'Dum'daar item numbers!
