Coolie
Coolie Hindi Opening Day Box Office:
Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan’s much-talked-about action drama Coolie has had a slow start at the Hindi box office. The film opened with around ₹5 crore nett from its Hindi dubbed version on day one. While this number is considered below average for a film starring two superstars, it is somewhat understandable given the strong competition from War 2, which has taken most of the screens and shows.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie has been released in multiple languages, with the Hindi version aimed at attracting a wider audience across North India. However, early reports suggest that the film has received mixed to negative reviews from critics, which could affect its long-term run in cinemas.
Coolie Review: Rajinikanth's Mass & Aura Save Loki's Poor Show
On the positive side, the weekend might still see some growth. Trade experts expect a jump in collections today (Independence Day), tomorrow (Saturday+Dahi Handi), and possibly even a bit on Sunday, if word of mouth improves among the mass audience. That said, a sharp dip is expected from Monday onwards, especially if the competition remains strong and reviews fail to turn in its favour.
Despite the slow Hindi start, Coolie is performing better in South Indian markets, where Rajinikanth’s fan base is unmatched. The Hindi version may still end up with a respectable total if the weekend picks up well. For now, the film’s real test will be how it performs over the next two days. Strong growth could help it cross into safer box office territory, while flat numbers will mean a short run in the Hindi belt. Having a lifetime total of over 40 crore will be a respectable figure, but not good enough.
