Chris Evans joins Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday is about one and a half years away from its release, but it seems to be making the buzz go the right way before that. Recently, the makers announced the return of Robert Downey Jr. at Comic-Con and surprised fans in a big way. Now, it's confirmed that not just Robert, but fans will also be able to see Chris Evans in the new Avengers flick!

Robert Downey Jr. played Iron Man for years, which has become a fan-favorite character. The same goes for Chris Evans, who portrayed the leader of the team, Captain America, and became one of the most favored characters among fans. Both bid farewell to the MCU in Avengers: Endgame (2019), which became the highest-grossing movie at the time. These two will be returning in the next Avengers flick, but not in their previous roles.

Robert Downey Jr. will be seen as the main antagonist, Doctor Doom, in Avengers: Doomsday. He replaced Jonathan Majors, while Chris Evans will appear in a different role. The Wrap confirmed his involvement in the film but did not reveal the role. Evans recently appeared in Deadpool and Wolverine as Johnny Storm from Fox’s Fantastic Four, so it is likely that he will reprise that role.

Avengers: Doomsday will be directed by the Russo Brothers, who directed both Evans and Downey in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. They will also helm the direct sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars.
