Protest against Chhaava:

The Chhaava trailer was launched earlier this week, and one of the scenes has not been well received by members of the Maratha organization and some devotees of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

EXCLUSIVE: "Krrish 4 script is ready; it's a very high-budget film," confirms Rakesh Roshan

Vicky Kaushal, who portrays the lead role of Sambhaji Maharaj, is seen dancing like a mainstream Bollywood hero in one of the scenes, alongside Rashmika Mandanna, who plays his wife. A Maratha organization protested against this at Lal Mahal, Pune.

Former Rajya Sabha MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati, a descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, shared his views on the matter and asked the filmmakers to respect history, also expressing his desire to see the film before its release. However, the makers did not respond to his pleas.

He said, "It is commendable that the film highlights the life and valiant reign of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Director Laxman Utekar and his team showed me the movie's trailer. I told them I would like to watch the entire film before its release. I also offered to connect them with historians to address inaccuracies to ensure this significant story is presented authentically to audiences worldwide." However, the filmmakers have not yet engaged with historians. While the lezim is an important part of our cultural heritage, it is necessary to discuss whether such cinematic liberties align with the dignity and historical portrayal of Sambhaji Maharaj. Historians and experts should deliberate on the appropriateness of this depiction."

The makers are yet to respond to these allegations, and it will be interesting to see what stance they take. The film is directed by a Marathi individual, Laxman Utekar, so hopefully, he will do the needful.
