Popular engineer-turned-writer Chetan Bhagat, whose book Five Point Someone had inspired Rajkumar Hirani's blockbuster 3 Idiots, has stated that the producer of the movie, Vidhu Vinod Chopra had "bullied" him and also "drove him close to suicide."

With the release of Sushant Singh Rajput's last movie Dil Bechara just round the corner, Chetan wrote, "Sushant's last film releases this week. I want to tell the snob and elitist critics right now, write sensibly. Don't act oversmart. Don't write rubbish. Be fair and sensible. Don't try your dirty tricks. You have ruined enough lives. Now stop. We'll be watching."

To his tweet, movie critic Anupama Chopra replied, "Each time you think the discourse can’t get lower, it does!"

Chetan lashed out at the critic and her husband Vidhu Vinod Chopra writing, "Ma'am, when your husband publicly bullied me, shamelessly collected all the best story awards, tried denying me credit for my story and drove me close to suicide, and you just watched, where was your discourse?"

3 Idiots had starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.
