August 2 will be celebrated as Friendship Day all across the world this year and because we are such Bollywood nuts, we decided to celebrate the day by presenting you 10 Bollywood films, which celebrated friendship and are known till date as films to be watched with your close friends.

Sholay

The bromance between Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra) in Ramesh Sippy's Sholay achieved such cult status that till date, best friends are jokingly referred to as 'Jai and Veeru' by others. Needless to say, Sholay remains our first film in this list.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was Karan Johar's directorial debut and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherji. Khan and Kajol played college pals Rahul and Anjali and their camaraderie indeed made us nostalgic about our college days.

Dil Chahta Hai

The directorial debut of the multi-talented Farhan Akhtar, Dil Chahta Hai, which starred Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan and others, became a major hit and is still remembered for its bromance, wacky humour, music and memorable characters.

Rock On

One of the best films about music to come out of Bollywood, Rock On starred Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny, Prachi Desai and others. Rock On is still remembered today for its music.

Rang De Basanti

Though Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti was more about patriotism, the film also sent across a strong message about selfless friendship, loyalty and sacrifice.

Dostana

Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham starred in the laugh riot about two buddies, who pretend to be gay in order to share a room with a beautiful young woman (played by Priyanka Chopra). Bachchan and Abraham's on-screen chemistry in Dostana ensured a great experience for fans of both the stars.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na marked the debut of Imran Khan and was one of the best films about friendship to come out that year. The realistic portrayal of friendship and the crackling chemistry between the actors, not to mention the beautiful moments of friendship explored by the filmmaker, makes us include this film in the list.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starring Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar and others, was a visually delightful film about three friends on a journey, which brings them closer to each other. The film had also starred Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin.

3 Idiots

Based on Chetan Bhagat's best-selling novel 'Five Point Someone', 3 Idiots starred Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi and went on to become a major blockbuster. The film was not only appreciated by critics and audiences alike, but the phrases used by the characters ended up being an integral part of the urban vocabulary.

Gunday

YRF flick Gunday is special for two reasons- the film starred Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor, who rocked the flick with their bromance and secondly, the two YRF lads are as thick of thieves in real life too, which made their on-screen dosti seem more believable and real.
