How Big And important Deepika Padukone's Role Is In '83? Deets Inside..

Ever since the announcement, Kabir Khan directorial '83 has never gone out of the buzz. Ranveer Singh will be seen playing 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev in this sports drama. His real life partner Deepika Padukone-Singh will be sharing screen space with him again after successful outing like Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. The actress is playing a role of Kapil Dev's wife Romi.

However, most of the people believed that her might not be as big as her previous roles. But recently in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Kabir Khan has opened-up about the details of her character which makes sure that her role is surely worthy enough."Deepika being the kind of person she is, the kind of actor she is, I think they also try to look at the project as a whole. There is holistic view to the film so its not always about what I am doing or what is my character doing. And I think Deepika looked at it like the kind of film she wants to be associated with and that’s why she is one of our producers," Kabir Khan said.

He adds, "She has a very significant role. Yes, it might not be in length equal to others but the fact is that it’s a really important role because Romi ji played a very important role in Kapil Dev's life. There is a reason why the character is there and there is a certain dynamic that Kapil ji and Romi ji have that is very unique and we wanted to show that. I thought that the story would be incomplete if I did not show that."

Produced by Reliance Entertainment, the initial release date of the film was 10th April 2020 but got shifted to Dec 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. Now the film has been scheduled to be in cinemas this Christmas. The trailer of this Kabir Khan directorial is expected to release soon.
