Romantic pair of The Royals trolled:
Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter’s pairing in The Royals has sparked mixed reactions, with social media users trolling their on-screen chemistry. Many felt the duo lacked spark, leading to a wave of memes and criticism online. In response, the film’s director acknowledged the feedback and assured audiences that future projects would feature more careful casting and chemistry testing. Priyanka Ghose added that constructive criticism helps improve storytelling and audience connection.

"With Bhumi's casting by Netflix, I was actually very open to the idea of trying this new pairing. They are both such powerful actors, and I was excited to see them embody glamorous roles, which goes against both of their works so far. While Ishaan hasn't had a chance to play a glamorous mainstream hero role, Bhumi has always been like the queen of heartland India," she said during an interaction with India Today.

When asked about the trolls and criticism, Priyanka stated, "If it didn't work for some people, I will try better next time. However, there are also people who enjoyed the show and their chemistry. It's crazy how polarized the feedback has been."
Another point of trolls was the romantic affair between Ishaan and Nora Fatehi's character. Nora, as always, is shown in a hot avatar, but the age gap between her and Ishaan didn't fit well and led to more backlash. The Royals has been mainly slammed for its storyline and storytelling, and many openly criticized Netflix for continuously producing bad series.
