Ballerina Drops on Sunday:

Keanu ReevesJohn Wick universe spinoff Ballerina has failed to impress at the Indian box office, ending its opening weekend on a disappointing note. Despite the brand value and curiosity surrounding the Ana de Armas-led film, Ballerina couldn’t replicate the success of its parent franchise.

Ballerina Box Office:

The film opened with ₹2.30 crore (including previews) on Friday, followed by a slight jump to ₹2.80 crore on Saturday. However, Sunday witnessed a surprising dip, with the film collecting only ₹2.50 crore, taking the weekend total to just ₹7.6 crore nett. In comparison, John Wick: Chapter 4 had already crossed ₹8.5 crore by the end of its first day, with ₹2.5 crore from previews and ₹6 crore on opening Friday alone.

Ballerina Poor Buzz & Promotions:

Industry insiders blame the underperformance on poor marketing and weak buzz. Unlike John Wick 4, which had strong word-of-mouth and heavy promotions, Ballerina was barely visible before release. Distribution and marketing partner PVRInox Pictures failed to create any pre-release excitement, which impacted the turnout despite the film belonging to a well-established action franchise.

Given the sluggish trend and lack of audience interest, Ballerina is unlikely to cross the ₹20 crore mark in India. With John Wick 4 finishing at ₹45 crore nett in India, Ballerina may not even touch half of that. The film, unfortunately, seems headed toward a flop verdict at the box office.
