Baar Baar Dekho has disappointed big time at the Box Office. In fact it is a surprise failure commercially since even in the worst case scenario, one wouldn't have expected a Week One total of just 29 crore*. With a film like this where so many reputed names have come together, one looked forward to at least decent numbers commercially. That hasn't turned out to be the case as Baar Baar Dekho is now competing with some of the lowest grossing films of the year. In fact its first week collections are lesser than even A Flying Jatt <36.85 crore in 8 days> and comparable to Akira <26.39 crore>.
Expectedly, the film isn't really enjoying a good number of screens to its credit in the second week which means by the time the third week begins, it would be off the theaters completely. For a film which has been in news for so many years (there were talks of Aamir Khan being approached for the film as well), an outcome like this where it has disappeared without trace is tough to fathom.
Freaky Ali wasn't much in news though while being made and the title was an afterthought too. The promo had given an impression of a rollicking entertainer but suddenly the promotional buzz went down and the musical campaign didn't work either. The film arrived almost unannounced and it is to credit of some decent content by Sohail Khan and some solid acting by Nawazuddin Siddiqui that the film didn't crash per se. It hung on to an extent and managed to bring in 13.5 crore*. These are still low numbers for the film and with Raaz Reboot and Pink hitting the screens this week, audiences have ample choice.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
