Reportedly Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar starrer gay love story, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan managed to get a U/A certificate from the CBFC. Reports state that the film body officials are looking at the film as 'a love story and not a gay love story'. According to latest reports, members of the Censor Board saw the film ahead of its February 21 release, and they have not only given a U/A certificate to the film, but has also pass the much controversial same sex smooch scene without asking the makers to edit it. The producer of the film, Aanand L Rai was very apprehensive about the kiss before the the trailer launch, as he wanted a ‘U/A’ certificate for the trailer of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. Anand was anxious that the CBFC would ask for the kiss to be removed. But no one objected to the kiss from the board before the trailer launch, barring only to the swear word that Gajraj Rao utters when the kiss happens.
The makers of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan announced that the CBFC has declared their film as a family entertainer. Sharing the same news, Neena Gupta on her Instagram handle wrote,
"CBFC ne jeetaya pyaar! Dekhiye #ShubhMangalZyadaSaavdhan seh-parivaar, releasing this friday!"
Ayushmann, who had played the role of a man suffering from erectile dysfunction in the first installment, will be seen playing a gay character in this movie named Kartik Singh. Where he will be seen romancing Jitendra Kumar, who is playing Aman Tripathi.
This Hitesh Kewalya directed film, also stars Gajraj Rao, who is playing Jitendra’s father Shankar Tripathi and Neena Gupta, who is essaying the role of his mother, Sunaina Tripathi. Pankhuri Awasthy will also be seen in this film playing Kusum, Jitendra’ fiancé. Bhumi Pednekar, who had played the lead role opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in 2017 release Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, is returning to the sequel of the movie, with a cameo appearance in the film. This film is slated to release on 21st February 2020.
