New benchmarks have been set by the latest Hollywood release Avengers - Infinity War. The film has taken the biggest opening ever for a Hollywood film, what with 95 crore* coming in. This was helped by another superb day as Sunday brought in 33 crore* more. The film was running to packed capacity on the third day of release.

Leave aside the comparison that the biggest weekend ever for a Hollywood film <Fast and the Furious 7> was just 50.11 crore, the record for even the biggest first week ever <74.63 crore scored by The Jungle Book> has been smashed by a distance. What has to be seen though is whether the lifetime number of 108 crore scored by Fast and the Furious 7 would be surpassed today itself or would it take time till tomorrow.

When compared to Bollywood releases, the film is far ahead of the first thee day numbers of Padmaavat <78 crore> and Baaghi 2 <73.1 crore>. Though Padmaavat eventually emerged into a different league altogether, the first major milestone for Avengers - Infinity War would be to go past the lifetime number of Baaghi 2 . Going by the trends, that should be possible during the second weekend.

Since there is a partial holiday today , the film would comfortably stay over the 15 crore mark. However if the collections come close to the 20 crore mark, sky would be the limit for this superhero franchise.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
