Veteran singer Asha Bhosle has filed a complaint with Mumbai police against her tenant and yesteryear actress Sadhana, for encroaching upon her Santa Cruz bungalow.
Sadhana has been living in Asha's property as a tenant for over 50 years. However, Bhosle has now alleged that the 70-year-old actress is not allowing her to use the garden at her bungalow- Sangeeta.
In her complaint, Asha stated, "Sadhana Nayyar is the tenant in respect of the ground floor premises only. However, she is wrongly claiming tenancy in respect of the garden abutting the ground floor premises in Sangeeta bungalow by creating record as also restricting free and unhindered access to the garden to me and my representatives/servants/agents. The said garden is in my possession."
"My uninterrupted lawful possession of the said premises is now being sought to be disturbed with malafied intentions by the said Sadhana on a false pretext and by obstructing and interfering with the entry/access to the said premises by her representatives/servants/agents. The garden was never let out to her. The same always remained in my possession," she further mentioned in her complaint letter, which she had submitted to the Santa Cruz police station in January, 2012.
The yesteryear actress, however, has claimed that she was clueless about any police complaint against her and has also denied unlawful possession of the garden. Defending her case the actress was quoted saying, "I live on the ground floor besides I have to walk through the garden to enter my house. I am a senior citizen and I will definitely not let anyone to peep into my house on the pretext of measuring the area outside the house. Asha has claimed that I have stopped her from using the garden but she never stepped into this building ever. Besides, how can I be a trespasser when I been living here as a tenant, for 50 years."
"Asha called me about three years ago informing me about her plans for the bungalow and informed that she would be sending someone to talk to me in that regard. I was okay with it but told her that I would not mind moving out provided an accommodation equivalent to the space I occupied in this building be given to me. But nothing happened," she further added.
In 2010, Sadhana had lodged a complaint against builder Yusuf Lakdawala, who occupies the second floor of Sangeeta, accusing him of issuing death threats and trying to force her to vacate her house. Following the complaint Lakdawala was arrested and was granted bail after a day.
Post his release, the builder filed a defamation case against the Mera Saya star. Sadhana was arrested and was later released.
