Aryan Khan Reveals Shah Rukh Khan's Teachings:

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Bads of Bollywood, is now streaming successfully on Netflix, marking an exciting chapter in the star kid’s journey. Following the release, Aryan shared how his father, Shah Rukh Khan, played a pivotal role in shaping his approach to storytelling.

"Ever since I was a kid, I’ve preferred telling stories," Aryan said. “I always felt I had a lot of things to say, and I just felt I could tell it in a different and interesting way. I felt there’s more control behind the camera, and it’s simply more enjoyable. When you do something you love, it stops being a job. You look forward to it every day, and it’s what you want to do."

This love for filmmaking, he adds, was nurtured at home. “My father himself is extremely in-depth about the aspects of filmmaking—whether it is VFX, lighting, or camera work. Ever since I was a kid, he would show me, ‘You don’t actually get shot. This is how it happens,’ or how to make a plane fly without actually flying a plane. To a child, it’s like magic,” Aryan reminisces.

That early exposure shaped not just his technical skills, but also his storytelling style. The Bads of Bollywood resists traditional genre labels, seamlessly shifting between drama, chaos, and romance. "We can do an action sequence, then suddenly break your heart with a death, and turn it into a rom-com,” he explains. "There are so many different genres, and the length of the series allows us to explore them all."

Aryan emphasizes that this tonal fluidity is intentional. "The first three episodes are light-hearted, slowly building into sadness. We build the characters first so that when we reach the climax, the stakes feel real. We can almost say anything from any genre. Since we’re making a TV show about the film industry, we wanted that freedom."
