New Update
After playing a funny guy in majority of the 50 odd films that he has done over a period of time, Arshad Warsi is picking up a new role. In his next release Zila Ghaziabad, he is playing an out and out negative role with no shades of grey whatsoever.
"This is a first for Arshad", comments a source, "Time and again he has been in the role of a comic guy. At times he has also stepped into the shoes of a loveable rogue. However he has never ever played someone evil. This is now happening with Zila Ghaziabad where he is enacting the role of a gangster called Prakash Fauji."
Incidentally, it has been whispered that the part is based on a real life character, something that had resulted in quite a few controversies during the making of the film.
"This is the reason why makers are keeping quiet on the whole inspiration factor. However the fact remains that Arshad is playing someone who lives by the gun and only talks the language of a bullet. Moreover there is no redeeming factor whatsoever about the part that he is enacting", an insider adds.
To get the look right, he didn't just go on to grow a beard but also applied 'soorma' in his eyes and changed his hairstyle.
"He has gone through complete transformation", the source adds, "You would hardly find him even smiling in the film, leave aside cracking a joke. The kind of intensity that he has brought in his performance can be pretty much gauged from the fact that some of his best scenes from the film are those where he gets into a face off with Sanjay Dutt who is playing a cop."
Quite a turnaround indeed from the Munnabhai-Circuit days!
