Officials from the Santacruz Police Station in Mumbai have reportedly arrested Amit Gill, actor Arjun Rampal’s brother-in-law on charges of sexually assaulting an air hostess and threatening to circulate her nude pictures that he had taken after sedating her with spiked drinks.
From what we have learned, Amit Gill is married to Rampal's sister Kamal and resides in Anand Villa in Santacruz. According to an FIR filed on March 29, the victim said that she had met Gill at a five star hotel in Bandra last year, where she was introduced to him by a common friend. The victim reportedly befriended Gill as she was led to believe that he is an influential person and would help her recover an amount of Rs. 5 lakhs that a person in Dubai owed her. On knowing that Gill was an investor, the victim broke her mother's fixed deposit of Rs. 18 lakh and signed a deed with Gill.
Subsequently, Gill, who had assured a three per cent return to the victim's mother, paid and also returned Rs. 12 lakh to her out of the total Rs. 18 lakh but he wasn't returning the remaining Rs. 6 lakh. When Gill refused to pay the balance for more than an year and the victim threatened to approach the police, Gill threatened to circulate nude pictures of the victim that he had clicked after spiking her drinks during one of their meetings.
The victim finally approached Santacruz police station with an application which was later converted into an FIR. The sections applied against Gill are 328, (causing hurt by means of poison), 354 (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
Police sources claim that Gill was earlier arrested for allegedly betting money on the India VS Sri Lanka cricket series in 2017. His name had come up when the Mumbai Crime Branch bust a betting ring in Andheri.
