AR Rahman's Mother Kareema Begum Passes Away

Music maestro AR Rahman's mother Kareema Begum (born Kashturi) passed away in Chennai on Monday. Rahman confirmed the reports as he shared a picture of his mom on Twitter.

Rahman lost his father, music composer RK Shekhar at the tender age of nine and post his demise, his mother single-handedly raised Rahman and his sisters. Rahman has often said that his mother was pivotal to his success.

Tributes started pouring in as soon As Rahman confirmed the reports. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and DMK president M.K. Stalin also offered condolences on Twitter.
