Music Maestro A.R. Rahman is in the Oscar race again for his work in 2016 biographical film, Pele: Birth Of A Legend. The Mozart Of Madras has found a place in the initial list of the 89th Academy Award contenders.
It could be a double delight for Rahman, who had won two Oscar Awards for his music in Slumdog Millionaire, this year too. His name is included in a long list of 145 scores in contention for a nomination in the Original Score category for his music in Pele: Birth Of A Legend.
Rahman’s much-acclaimed song Ginga from Pele too is competing to get a spot in the Original Song category. 91 songs are fighting to get a place in the aforementioned category.
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list on its official website on Tuesday and final nominations will be announced on January 24. The presentation ceremony will be held at Dolby Theater at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, on February 26.
