Apne 2 Stands Cancelled Without Dharmendra:

The much-awaited sequel to the 2007 film Apne has unfortunately been cancelled following the sad demise of legendary actor Dharmendra. The film’s director, Anil Sharma, confirmed the news while speaking to Hindustan Times.

He said that Apne was always a story of family, and without Dharmendra, it is impossible to continue. “Apne to apno ke bina nahi ho sakti. Without Dharamji, it’s impossible to make the sequel. Everything was on track and the script was ready, but he left us. Some dreams remain unfulfilled,” Sharma shared emotionally.

Apne (2007) holds a special place in the hearts of Hindi cinema lovers. It brought together the iconic Deol trio — Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, and Bobby Deol — in a touching story about family bonds, love, and redemption. Dharmendra played a former boxer who dreams of achieving glory through his sons, and the film was praised for its emotional depth and strong performances. The music and the father-sons chemistry made Apne a memorable film that resonated with audiences.

In 2020, Apne 2 was officially announced, and fans were excited to see the three generations of the Deol family — Dharmendra, Sunny, Bobby, and Karan Deol — sharing the screen. The project was put on hold due to the pandemic but remained in the pipeline.

Dharmendra’s passing has brought this hope to an end. The film industry and fans continue to mourn the loss of a true superstar who gave decades of unforgettable cinema. We appreciate this gesture by Anil Shama.
