Anushka Sharma To Play Jhulan Goswami, Former Captain Of The Indian Women Cricket Team In Her Biopic

After being on a break from films for the past one year, post her last Anand L Rai's release Zero, costarring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, it looks like the actress is all set to return on silver screens with a biopic. As per reports, the actress is all set to star in Jhulan Goswami, former captain of the Indian women cricket team, in her biopic, essaying the role of the all rounder cricketer. Reportedly the actress has also registered two titles for the film with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA). One of which is as 'Chakdaha Express' and the other is 'Chakda Express', both of which is in reference to the name of trains, which run in Jhulan's native city, West Bengal. Reports also suggest that the film will be directed by Prosit Joy, who directed Pari (2018).

Recently pictures of Anushka and Jhulan went viral, where both of them were seen together at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In the pictures Anushka was seen sporting the older version of team India jersey, whereas Jhulan was seen wearing a dark blue jacket and jeans. The two were seen interacting and walking together on the ground, while a shoot was rolling. These pictures gave rise to speculations, that the actress has finally given a nod for the biopic. The actor-director duo was said to be shooting for a promo video of the film.

Well it seems like it's the year of biopic on female cricketers from the Indian Women Cricket Team, as interestingly a biopic  on her teammate Mithali Raj, is also being made,  starring Taapsee Pannu in it.
