Maverick director Anurag Kashyap, who is quite excited about the release of his forthcoming film Gangs Of Wasseypur, had an interesting anecdote to reveal about the casting of the film during a recent press meet in connection with the film.

Kashyap, who has helmed masterpieces like Dev D and Gulaal, was quoted saying, "As the film is based in Bihar, I wanted actors from that region to play the roles in the film and the first name that came to my mind was Manoj Bajpai. Having made the decision, I called up Manoj and asked him if he would be interested in a script that I have and Manoj immediately rushed over at around 11 pm or so. When I asked him if he would like to have something, Manoj asked for some red wine and we discussed the script over an entire bottle of wine and Bajpai agreed to do the film. I still don't know if he was convinced about the role or if the wine made him agreeable."

An underworld saga set against the backdrop of the coal mining mafia in North India, Gangs Of Wasseypur is slated to release on June 22, 2012.
