Filmmaker Anees Bazmee has officially confirmed that he is working on a new comedy film with Akshay Kumar, much to the excitement of fans who have loved their previous collaborations. Speaking to Mid-Day, Bazmee shared that the project is currently in the writing stage and progressing well.

“It is a comedy. I am writing the script right now, it’s almost complete. If everything goes as planned, we will start shooting soon,” Bazmee said, hinting that the film may go on floors in the near future.

The director also spoke warmly about his long-standing professional relationship with Akshay Kumar. “There is mutual love and respect between us (I and Akshay Kumar). When I told him about this film, he was more than happy,” he added. Their past hits have made them one of Bollywood’s most successful actor-director pairs, especially in the comedy genre.

In recent weeks, several reports claimed that the upcoming film could be a Hindi adaptation of Venkatesh’s Telugu film Sankranthi Vasthunam. However, Bazmee chose not to confirm or deny these rumours. Remaining tight-lipped, he did not reveal whether the project is a remake or an original story, keeping details under wraps for now.
