Andaz Apna Apna re-release opening day collections:
Rajkumar Santoshi's cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna (1994) was re-released yesterday with low expectations. Starring Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in the lead roles, the film could not attract viewers on Day One of its re-release. The comedy flick has a huge fan following but failed to reflect that in footfalls, much like the original release, which was a flop as well.
Aamir Khan and Salman Khan's Andaz Apna Apna 2 script is in the works –
Andaz Apna Apna collected approximately Rs 24-26 lakhs nett on opening day in its re-release, which is nowhere near other successful re-releases in recent times. Interestingly, these opening day numbers during the re-release are lower than the original release's opening day when ticket prices were 20 times lower. This means that the original flop run is still bigger than the film's re-release, and that too after gaining such a huge fan following.

Another reason could be that the film has been watched by everyone numerous times already, so people are not interested in watching it again by purchasing a ticket. It will be interesting to see if the film can sustain its performance from here on, as the initial numbers on the opening day don't suggest a keen audience interest in the film.

In its original release, the crime comedy collected Rs 31 lakhs nett on opening day, while clashing against Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn's Suhaag. Andaz Apna Apna lost the clash and eventually became a flop at the box office with earnings of Rs 5.29 crore nett. However, over the years, the film has become more popular than Suhaag.
