Amitabh Bachchan will mark his Hollywood debut with Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby and the latest about the film is that it will open the 66th Festival de Cannes, on May 15, this year.
A statement on the official website of the film festival disclosed this piece of news. The film will screen out of competition in keeping with opening-night tradition. On the occasion, Bachchan will grace the red carpet along with American rapper Jay-Z.
The film will be screened in 3D , making it the second film, in the history of Cannes, after Pete Docter's Up in 2009, to be showcased in this format. Adapted from the famous novel by American author Francis Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan in the lead roles.
