Megastar Amitabh Bachchan presented the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award to his first leading lady Tanuja at the prestigious awards ceremony, which was recently held in Mumbai.
Bachchan says that it was a great privilege and honour for him to present the award to the ‘great’ actress, who agreed to star opposite him when he was just a struggler.
Taking to his Facebook page, Big B wrote, ''Giving the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award to Tanuja : She came into the firmament like a breath of fresh air .. a very warm welcome breeze on a cold wintry morning ..Vibrant ! Pulsating with energy .. Carefree. Unconventional and completely uninhibited,''
''She was my first leading lady in a film made in the 70's Pyar Ki Kahani a remake of a Tamil film kaikudtha deivam which had three of the iconic legends of Tamil cinema - Shivaji Ganesan, Gemini Ganesan and Savitri. I shall ever remain grateful to Tanuja for having agreed to work with me then - me a struggling newcomer ; she this glorious star ..
