'Aligarh' Director Hansal Mehta Disappointed With National Awards Results

Hansal Mehta's widely-acclaimed film Aligarh, which stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role, failed to make it to the winners list of the 64th National Film Awards and Mehta is very disappointed with the result.

He expressed his disappointment on Twitter, writing,

Am getting calls asking me if Aligarh was entered for the National Awards and if i was disappointed with the.. pic.twitter.com/93cw80iv7b

Aligarh is the true story of Dr Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras (played by Manoj), a professor of Marathi and the head of the Classical Modern Indian Languages Faculty at the famed Aligarh Muslim University, who was suspended for being gay.
