Reports around OMG 3, reportedly featuring Akshay Kumar and Rani Mukerji, have hit a legal roadblock as Digital18 Media Private Limited has publicly asserted its ownership over the OMG (Oh My God) franchise. The company has issued a formal public notice warning against any unauthorised development of future films connected to the franchise.

The notice was published on January 10, 2026, in Atul Mohan’s Complete Cinema magazine. In it, Digital18 clearly states that no individual or production house can create, promote, or finance a sequel, prequel, spin-off, or any derivative project linked to OMG 2 (2023) without its written permission.

Digital18 explained that it became the legal successor to the studios business of Viacom18 Media Private Limited following a court-approved Composite Scheme of Arrangement that came into effect on November 14, 2024. As a result, the company now holds joint ownership of all franchise and derivative rights related to OMG 2. This includes control over the film’s brand identity, goodwill, and public recognition.

The notice strongly cautions all parties that even discussing or planning a follow-up film without Digital18’s consent would be considered a violation of its legal rights. It further emphasises that no third party is authorised to announce or move forward with OMG 3 or any related project, whether directly or indirectly, without prior approval.

Additionally, Digital18 warned that using similar titles, themes, or promotional material that could confuse audiences or ride on the popularity of OMG may lead to claims of misrepresentation and dilution of rights.
