Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji Passes The Crucial Monday Test At The Box Office, While Deepika's Chhapaak Witness A Drop

publive-imageLast Friday Box-Office witnessed the first two big releases of the new decade, with Ajay Devgn's Tanhaji:The Unsung Warrior and Deepika Padukone's Chhapaak. Both the films of two varied genres, since its announcement has managed to create a lot of buzz among the audience. Tanhaji:The Unsung Warrior managed to out-stand Chhapaak at the box office collections on its opening weekend. Tanhaji:The Unsung Warrior has managed to open in double digits at the box-office, by making a collection of  Rs 15.10 crores nett on its day 1. It earned Rs. 20.57 crores on Saturday and Rs. 26.08 crores on Sunday, post which the film also managed to pass the crucial Monday test at the Box-office with flying colors, by earning roughly around Rs. 12 crores on the occasion of Lohri. The film on its first 4 days have managed to make an earning of Rs.74.28 crores nett.

Whereas Chhapaak has managed to make an earning of Rs 4.77 crores nett on its day 1. It earned Rs. 6.90 crores on Saturday and Rs. 7.35 crores on Sunday. The film on its first crucial Monday witnessed a significant drop in its collection. The film earned Rs. 2.86 crores on its fourth day, with which its total collection has become Rs. 21.88 crores nett.

Directed by Om Raut, Tanhaji:The Unsung Warrior has been collaboratively produced by Ajay Devgn Films and T-series.

The film starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles, narrates the epic battle of Sinhagadh, from the pages of history. It also shows the valour of the Marathas in all its glorious pride. The film has been getting good responses from the audience and critics, owing to the commendable performances by the actors and it's spectacular cinematic experience due to its VFX & CGI work. As per reports Tanhaji, which is rooted to the story of Maharashtra, is managing to keep up a good business in this region, and even making a good business in the regions of Rajasthan and Central India. The film is also managing a decent business in the North and East parts of the country.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak stars Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey in the leading roles. The film is inspired by the real life incident of Laxmi Agarwal, her true strong spirit, determination and her strong will to battle with life, post the hideous incident of acid attack which she suffered at a young age. This film also marked Deepika's debut as a producer, which she has co-produced with Fox-Star-Studios and her director. The film has recently been in the light of controversy due to Deepika paying a visit at the JNU campus, to stand by the students in their protest against the recently held attack on them, while they were protesting against the hike in fees of their course. The controversy surrounding the leading actress of the film is said to be affecting the box-office numbers. However the film is garnering positive reviews owing to its heart touching performances by the actors, and Meghna's commendable conviction in narrating the emotional and sensitive story.
