Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn starred in Rajkumar Gupta's 2018 film Raid, which was based on the real income-tax raid conducted by the officers on Sardar Inder Singh in the 1980s. The film met with a commercial and critical success and now the makers are set to bring the sequel to the crime thriller.
Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak (Panorama Studios) has made it official. The filmmaker was speaking at a panel discussion of the Kashi Film Festival in Varanasi yesterday and he dropped some exciting details on the sequel of the 2018 film. Like Raid, the sequel will be based on real life events. Raid 2 will follow the story of multiple raids at the houses and factory of perfume trader Piyush Jain in Kanpur and Kannauj.
Raid, directed by Rajkumar Gupta, was made on the of 70 crores and fared well at the box office. The film collected approximation 98-100 crore nett at domestic box office. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the cast of Raid included names like Ileana D'Cruz, Saurabh Shukla, Amit Sial, Sulagna Panigrahi, Gayathri Iyer, Sheeba Chaddha and Saanand Verma.
