Bollywood is preparing for a monumental box office showdown on Gandhi Jayanti 2026, as Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 and Shah Rukh Khan's King are both scheduled for release on October 2. If this occurs, it will be exactly after 14 years that these two superstars will face each other at the box office following the controversial Jab Tak Hai Jaan vs. Son of Sardaar clash during Diwali 2012.

Drishyam 3, the third installment in the acclaimed crime thriller series, was officially announced through a Bombay Stock Exchange filing by Panorama Studios. Ajay Devgn will reprise his role as Vijay Salgaonkar, with Abhishek Pathak returning as director. Production is set to commence in August 2025. The choice of Gandhi Jayanti as the release date aligns with the franchise's tradition, as the date holds thematic significance within the storyline from the first film, Drishyam (2015).

On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan's King, directed by Siddharth Anand, is also aiming for an October 2, 2026 release. While an official confirmation is pending, industry reports suggest that the production team is targeting this date to capitalize on the national holiday. The film stars Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, and Abhishek Bachchan. Filming has begun, with key action sequences already shot, and Shah Rukh Khan is expected to join the set soon.
