Ajay Devgn and Priyamani's biographical sports drama, Maidaan, has finally got a theatrical release date. Earlier slated to release in 2022, the film will now be released in cinemas on 17th February 2023, setting off a direct clash with Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. The way Marvel films are widening their range in India, we might see a tight battle between these two films.
Directed by Amit Sharma, who has delivered a blockbuster like Badhaai Ho, the sports drama also features Gajraj Rao and the well-known Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh in the pivotal roles. Maidaan is based on the true story of the unknown football hero, Syed Abdul Rahim, who made Indian football proud on a global level.
On the other hand, Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is one of the most awaited superhero flicks in 2023. Featuring the characters of Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), and Hope Pym, aka Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), it is intended to be the sequel to Ant-Man (2015) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) and the 31st film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film is directed by Peyton Reed and also stars Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Jonathan Majors, and Randall Park.
