A source revealed that Ajay will begin his portions with Sanjay Dutt from July 11 and after finishing it, he will jet off to Gujarat where a major chunk of the film will be shot. Producer Bhushan Kumar claims that both the actors are playing powerful characters and that the audiences will see them in a different avatar in the movie.
The period war drama also stars Sanjay Dutt, Rana Daggubati, Sonakshi Sinha, Parineeti Chopra and Ammy Virk in the lead roles. Ajay Devgn is playing the role of Indian Air Force officer, Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, who was in charge of the Bhuj Airport during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Sanjay is playing Ranchordas Svabhai Ravari ‘Pagi’, who guided the army and helped them win the war by decoding footprints.
Sonakshi is playing Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, a social worker and a farmer activist, who convinced other women to help build the runway. Rana is playing a Madras Regiment Lt. Colonel while Pari is essaying the role of femme fatale Heena Rehman, an Indian spy based in Lahore. Ammy Virk is playing a fighter pilot.
During the 1971 war, the airstrip of the airport got destroyed as Pakistan dropped bombs on it and it was Karnik, who convinced 300 fearless women from a nearby village to rebuild the airstrip so that flights carrying IAF officers could land safely. Karnik along with two other officers and 50 IAF and 60 Defence Security Corps personnel kept the airbase operational.
Bhuj: The Pride Of India is being directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, who has also written the script and it will release on August 14, 2020.
