Ajay Devgn In Talks For Hindi Remake Of Thudarum:
The blockbuster success of Mohanlal’s Thudarum has sparked serious interest in a Hindi remake, with Ajay Devgn reportedly being approached to lead the adaptation. According to director Tharun Moorthy, enquiries have already come from Telugu and Hindi film industries for remaking Thudarum. In a recent interview, he shared some details about the same.

Thudarum — released in April 2025 — struck a chord for its grounded storytelling, strong performances and emotional depth, and soon emerged as one of the biggest Malayalam hits of the year. These very strengths make it a tempting project for Bollywood: a film with proven mass appeal and a storyline that could resonate across languages.

Bollywood already witnessed the success of Devgn’s earlier adaptations of Malayalam hits of Mohanlal, which gives confidence to producers that Thudarum’s Hindi version could do well. Ajay remade Mohanlal's masterpiece Drishyam which fared as an average grosser, while the sequel, Drishyam 2, emerged as a blockbuster.
Yet, the remake also comes with challenges. Tharun Moorthy has admitted to being hesitant about rushing into remakes — citing his busy schedule and worry about doing justice to the original. The core of Thudarum’s appeal lies in its emotional realism and regional flavor; translating that to suit a broader, more mainstream Hindi‑film sensibility would require careful scripting and direction.

If handled with sensitivity — balancing authenticity with Hindi market sensibilities — the Thudarum remake with Ajay Devgn could be a promising bridge between Malayalam cinema’s grounded storytelling and Bollywood’s wider reach. Whether it will capture the soul of the original remains to be seen. Many fans aren't happy with this news, but who knows, this could work in Hindi markets and Devgn is currently looking for a good film after dull responses to his previous two sequels.
