Reportedly, it’s a period drama set during the rule of the Chola dynasty and the former beauty queen will play a power-hungry woman in the movie. Reportedly, the film is based on a historical Tamil novel titled Ponniyin Selvan, written by Kalki.

A source told a tabloid that the film is set in the 10th century before Rajaraja Chola became the king. The source further revealed that Aishwarya is playing Nadini, the wife of Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, who served as the chancellor and treasurer of the Chola kingdom. Her character is a mysterious, power-hungry woman who manipulates her husband to plan the downfall of the Chola empire as she was wronged by them.

Reportedly, Vikram, Simbu, Jayaram Ravi and Amala Paul too will star in the movie. The pre-production work has started and the film is slated to go on floors later this year. Aishwarya and Mani Ratnam have previously worked together in Iruvar, Guru and Raavan.
