Yet another beauty queen is stepping into the film industry. Hasleen Kaur, who represented India at the Miss Earth 2011 beauty pageant, is making her big screen debut as a leading lady this week with Karle Pyaar Karle. What makes her Bollywood sojourn special is the fact that she is making her debut with a filmmaker (Suneel Darshan) who had given breaks to Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta (Andaaz) .

Did it require much convincing from the makers for you to be stepping into 'Karle Pyaar Karle'?

Not at all. On the contrary I was quite happy since the film was being made by Mr. Suneel Darshan. In his two decades of filmmaking, he has churned out some really good films which have done well commercially too. He also has a knack of choosing talent and giving them a solid platform to perform. There have been other notable actresses in the past too who have had a similar background as mine and worked in his films. Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, Celina Jaitly - they all have worked in his films. Even Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor worked with him at the very beginning of their career.

Was it a love story with which you wanted to begin your career?

While you see a lot of songs on air currently, the film has a lot of action too packed in it, and hence is a complete entertainer. Even the character that I am playing is quite fabulous. That is the kind of girl I wanted to play; someone who is glamorous, confident and walks around with an air that no can mess with her. This is a girl who is very close to me in real life. She is very strong opinionated, with quite a few layers to her as well.

What's the kind of industry feedback that you are getting, now that the film has released?

At the film's music launch, Karisma Kapoor and Mr. Mahesh Bhatt had come. I would never forget the kind of reactions they had on their faces when they saw the songs. They felt that it was all very larger than life. Mr. Bhatt felt that there was a lot of enthusiasm that Shiv Darshan and I brought on screen. Coming from him, it meant a lot. Karisma too was very expressive in her comments. It was exhilarating when she said that I was looking good on screen (smiles). Now she herself is such a stunningly ravishing woman. I have grown up on her films and she has been so beautiful over the years. Now she is giving all the love to the new generation.

As a new generation girl, what is the kind of genre or any specific kind of role that you have in mind?

I would like to do biopics and real life stories. It is so challenging to actually to get into the skin of real life characters and convince people that you are not acting but being a character yourself. To be able to do that successfully is what I aspire to do.
