Guddu Rangeela has released and yet again, Aditi Rao Hydari has come across as a sweet and simple girl on screen, something that has been her hallmark right from the days of Delhi 6 and Yeh Saali Zindagi to London Paris New York and then Boss. Still, in an industry that revels on its leading ladies being seen as quintessential Bollywood heroines, isn't she too thinking of going ultra glam or chic for a part of hers?
"If there is a character that requires that, then why not," says Aditi, "That said, I feel that if I say I am a quintessential Bollywood heroine then I would be misusing that word. Why do you have to wear short clothes with five layers of makeup in order to come across as glamorous or chic? I think you can be beautiful even with no ounce of make up on your face. You don't have to wear a mini-skirt to look glam."
She further believes that such matters are overrated and at the end of the day, for an actor it should be about getting the character right instead of focusing on such superficial aspects.
"You can be in a simple look and still look beautiful," opines Aditi, "Just think of it, in Guddu Rangeela I am playing a small town North Indian girl who gets kidnapped. How could I have worn a short dress and then roamed around? That would have looked so very odd, isn't it?"
Agreed!
