Prakash Jha has moved the Supreme Court to lift the ban imposed on the film. The hearing on the case is on Tuesday. But there is finally some good new for the film's cast and crew and also for the audience in Punjab and Andhra Pradesh, the ban has been lifted from these two states.
This information was revealed by Amitabh Bachchan on Twitter. He tweeted, "Just spoke to Prakash ji who returns after filing in the Supreme Court on the ban. Hearing on Tuesday, but Punjab, Andhra ban lifted."
If we go by what the celeb's tweeted, then it seems that the entire industry has joined its hands against the ban imposed on Aarakshan as twitter was abuzz with B-townies, venting their anger against the Indian political system for not allowing the film to be showcased in the afore mentioned states.
Shekhar Kapur said, "Surely if u r old enuff 2 vote, u r old enuff to decide wht movie to watch? Censor board has kept Indian films immature, encouraging fluffy love stories. Only producers with power 2 fight back can win." While Madhur Bhandarkar thinks that now filmmakers should restrict themselves to immature stuff. He tweeted on his page, "It is really sad that states are banning AARAKSHAN. Should we filmmakers from now on start making Cartoon films?"
Karan Johar seconds madhur as he thinks, "Cinema is a medium of expression...democracy allows the freedom of expression...is this only in theory??? And who stands accountable?? SAD."
"Aarakshan is a victim of today's dirty Politics. Movies don't have agendas, politicians do," wrote veteran actor Anupam Kher.
Father- son duo Javed and Farhan Akhtar are also revolting against the ban. Farhan's twitter status stated, "For the record. I am against the ban on Aarakshan. I hope better sense will prevail and that it will release in all states asap."Javed Akhtar requested everyone to raise their voice against this suppression of expression.
It is really ironic that though India is about to celebrate its 64th year of Independence , it's citizens still have to fight for their fundamental rights.
