Aamir Khan has reportedly rejected the first draft of Dadasaheb Phalke, the much-anticipated collaboration with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi. According to a source close to the development, Aamir recently heard the script and was not convinced that it would work as a theatrical experience.

The insider revealed BollyHungama that Aamir expected Hirani and Joshi to follow their trademark storytelling style, which usually blends humor with emotions and drama. However, the draft of Dadasaheb Phalke was said to be more serious in tone, without much comedy. This led Aamir to feel that the film lacked the engaging elements audiences associate with Hirani’s cinema. He has reportedly requested the director-writer duo to revisit the script and make changes.

The source further mentioned that Hirani and Joshi were taken aback by Aamir’s feedback. The project, which was originally expected to begin shooting in October 2025, is now on hold. With no clarity on when the revised draft will be ready, the film’s timeline has been disrupted.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has started exploring other projects. He is said to be listening to stories and scripts from filmmakers across industries, keeping his options open.
