In a recent interview with CNN-News18, Aamir described Mahabharata as more than just a story — he called it the “mother of it all” because of its unmatched narrative and cultural importance. He said that over the years, audiences have enjoyed huge global films like The Lord of the Rings and Avatar, but the Mahabharata stands above them because of its emotional depth, complexity, and timeless appeal.

Aamir explained that he feels a deep responsibility toward the epic, noting how strongly Indians are connected to the story, which has been part of the culture for generations. According to him, making such a film requires patience, care, and a respectful approach, and that’s why he is taking his time to prepare properly before beginning full-scale production. He said he wants to ensure that if the film is made, it makes all Indians proud.
