Aamir Khan to Start Work on 'Mahabharata' After His Next Release; Prefers Lord Krishna's Role –

Aamir Khan has confirmed that he will begin work on his long-cherished dream project, Mahabharata, after the release of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, which is set to hit theaters on June 20. The actor, known for his thoughtful and ambitious choices, spoke candidly about the scale and emotional weight of adapting the epic. 

“It is my dream to make Mahabharata. It is a difficult dream. Mahabharata will never let you down, but you might let Mahabharata down. Once Sitaare Zameen Par releases on June 20, then I will start work on Mahabharata. Yes, I am trying. It is a big project, so I don’t want to say too much,” Aamir said during the ABP summit 2025. 

Aamir Khan prefers Lord Krishna's Role:

The actor also expressed his interest in playing Lord Krishna, one of the most iconic figures in the epic, saying he would “love” to portray the role. However, he emphasized that the project is still in its early stages and must be approached with care and humility. "Actually, I like the character of Lord Krishna. I am very inspired, so that is the role I love."

It has been years since the Ghajini actor has wanted to make this film, but nothing has materialized.
