Aamir Khan Denies Being Approached For 3 Idiot Sequel:

Aamir Khan has put an end to rumours surrounding a possible sequel to 3 Idiots, one of Bollywood’s most loved films. Speaking to BollyHungama, the actor clarified that while he is fond of the idea, no one has approached him for 3 Idiots 2 so far.

Aamir recalled the joy of working on the 2009 blockbuster and the lasting impact of his character Rancho. “We had so much fun making that film. Rancho is the most popular character I’ve played. People still talk about him,” he said. The actor added that he would be open to doing a sequel if the right idea comes along, but stressed that nothing is currently in development. “I’d love to do a sequel. But no one has approached me,” he stated clearly.

R Madhavan

Echoing a similar sentiment, R. Madhavan, who played Farhan Qureshi in the film, shared a more cautious view. While he admitted that the thought of a sequel sounds exciting on paper, he questioned its practicality. Madhavan pointed out that all three lead actors—Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and himself—are much older now. “Where do we go in the sequel? What are our lives like now?” he asked, highlighting the creative challenges involved.

3 Idiots

Madhavan also praised director Rajkumar Hirani, expressing his desire to collaborate with him again. However, he felt that revisiting 3 Idiots might not be the best idea. “3 Idiots again? I think that would be idiotic,” he remarked candidly.

Released in 2009, 3 Idiots remains a cultural landmark, celebrated for its humour, performances and message on education and individuality. For now, fans will have to be content with its legacy rather than a sequel. Pinkvilla reported that the sequel is being finalized and will see a new cast member as well. It seems that the news is either fake or the team is deliberately trying to create a hype that way.
