Irrfan Khan
Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, who was known for his acting prowess, passed away on Wednesday at Mumbai’s Koilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The actor was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018 and was admitted to the hospital a day ago due to colon infection.
As we remember the maverick actor we bring you facts which you probably didn’t know about him:
1. His real name was Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan
2. Irrfan was a fantastic cricketer and even got selected for the CK Nayudu Tournament but couldn’t participate in it owing to lack of funds.
3. Khan was pursuing his MA degree when he earned a scholarship to study at National School of Drama. In fact, he had lied about having theater experience to get in.
4. Reportedly, one of his first jobs in Mumbai was that of an AC repairman.
5. Khan had acted in several TV serials like Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, Sara Jahan Hamara, Banegi Apni Baat, Chandrakanta and Star Best Sellers to name a few.
6. He was offered a key role in Interstellar however, he turned down the offer as it required him to stay in the US for four months.
7. He added an extra R to his name in 2012 as he liked the sound of it.
8. He was detained twice at Los Angeles Airport as his name was similar to that of a terror suspect.
9. Irrfan Khan is the first Bollywood actor, who has been a part two Oscar winning movies, Slumdog Millionare (2008) and Life of Pie (2012).
10. Irrfan received the Padma Shri in 2011 for his contribution to Indian Cinema.
