What happens when love knocks your door all over again? Do you feel uncertain and apprehensive? Or do you give it a second chance....phir se? That's the core of this Kunal Kohli and Jennifer Winget film, the music of which has been composed by Jeet Gangulli with lyrics by Rashmi Virag. With as many as four romantic pieces that also sees a couple of repeat versions, Phir Se scores high if you are a lover of traditional Bollywood romantic musical scores.
Nikhil D'Souza has been around for some time now and has been making an impression as a singer. He does that all over again with his beautiful voice as he goes about rendering 'Phir Se'. He is joined by his much experienced co-singer Shreya Ghoshal and together they ensure that you feel all romantic, courtesy the kind of music and lyrics that come into play. The song pretty much establishes the kind of spirit that Phir Se carries as a film and this is the reason why it later arrives in a sad as well as a remix version. Though 2018 has just begin, 'Phir Se' is one song that is bound to be remembered till yearend at least.
Another song that would be played by the lovers of quintessential Hindi film music is 'Rozana'. Mohit Chauhan springs magic every time he comes behind the mike and he does that all over again with 'Rozaana' as well. This time around too there is the feeling of love and romance in the air that makes this song, which has Tulsi Kumar giving a good account of herself as well, special and very easy on ears. With Valentine's Day round the corner, T-Series could well work around a plan on making this song popular in quick time.
Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal pair up for 'Maine Socha Ke Chura Loon' and while the song is melodious as well and makes for a good listening, somehow one feels that the ones before this have an edge. Not that this song is not good; as a matter of fact if it was a standalone piece in some other film and arrived right at the start of the album, it would have actually made for a good inclusion. However, the standards are set really high by 'Phir Se' and 'Rozaana' due to which 'Maine Socha Ke Chura Loon' - yet another well spun romantic piece - comes a close third.
Mohit Chauhan is back on the scene, this time with Monali Thakur and Shreya Ghoshal, and together they sing along 'Yeh Dil Jo Hai Badmaash Hai'. A happy-go-lucky song that has a trio of friends painting the streets of London red with good bonding and camaraderie, it concludes the album well with its pleasant sound. The essence of love and romance stays well in this one too, hence ensuring that as a package Phir Se doesn't stray and pretty much deliver what it promised.
The music of Phir Se arrives as an underdog but carries ample ingredients in it to be played along repeatedly.
