This one could well have been termed as a dance soundtrack on the lines of ABCD! With the core of the music comprising of several fast paced dance outings, Nawabzaade is a film primarily starring newcomers with quite some energy and enthusiasm on display. This is complimented well by the team of composers, lyricists and singers who put together half a dozen songs for the album. If you have been a fan of contemporary popular dance numbers with a strong Punjabi flavor to them then you wouldn't have missed High Rated Gabru that has been playing on for quite some time now. Guru Randhawa has been gaining good fan following for a while now and this is one song that had major contribution to make towards it. No wonder, when it appears in Nawabzaade, there are good hopes that it would be placed well in the narrative of the film and add on to all the fun. This isn't all as there is a female version to compliment this too. Aditi Singh Sharma is the one who chips in and does a rather good job.
Meanwhile, there is more fun in store with composer/lyricist/singer Badshah bringing on Tere Naal Nachna. He is joined by Sunanda Sharma and together they pair up well to put together this rap outing. There are certain set expectations that one has from a Badshah outing and they are pretty much fulfilled with Tere Naal Nachna which works well as a fun number. Expect this one to find good popularity going for it.
The hookline of Mummy Kasam is such that it instantly gets into your mind even though you won't really find yourselves humming it along on the streets. Composer/singer Gurinder Seagal (SardarG) knew the kind of audiences that he was catering to for Mummy Kasam and for that he paired up well with lyricist Kunaal Vermaa and rapper Ikka to get this one down for the masses. Payal Dev joins him as well and together they let their hand down for this 'desi' outing.
Further to that, Gurinder Seagal (SardarG) ropes in Sukriti Kakar for Aunty Dekh which is loosely inspired by yesteryear chartbuster Amma Dekh, though it has an identity of its own. As a matter of fact lyricist Kumaar gets the essence and mood as per the current times while Gurinder too keeps the pace really fast for Aunty Dekh in order to create a quick-fire outing. Now one waits to see how well is this song shot.
Last to arrive is Lagi Hawa Dil Ko and this one is a romantic number. In a dance album like Nawabzaade, one wasn't really expecting a melody to find a place. However, you don't really mind that either since Sandeep Nath's poetic lyrics have been given a good contemporary treatment by composer/singer Gurinder Seagal (SardarG) who comes up with his third song in a row. He does well here with Lagi Hawa Dil Ko which has Mika Singh stepping behind the mike towards the end of the song. Meanwhile, Altamash Faridi and Nettle chip in as well.
All in all, the music of Nawabzaade works well for the kind of stage and setting that the film has as well as the audiences that it is catering to. This one has just the right ammunition for a dance soundtrack.
Our picks: High Rated Gabru, Tere Naal Nachna, Mummy Kasam, Aunty Dekh
