Oops, what a boring soundtrack!

This is what you exclaim mid-way through Daas Dev itself, so much so that you end up wondering if the makers indeed listen the entire soundtrack a few times before signing off on its final inclusion. Even though so many composers and lyricists come together to create a song apiece, there is hardly a song or two that barely registers its presence (leave aside making an impression) which pretty much tells the tale of the soundtrack of this Sudhir Mishra film.

daadev-2First to arrive is 'Sehmi Hai Dhadkan' which pretty much sets the tone of Daas Dev (and not in a very good way). Despite Atif Aslam at the helm of affairs, this Vipin Patwa composed and Dr. Sagar written track is so boring that you wonder how it was commissioned in the first place. From this point on, you expect that anything that would come would be better than this.

Thankfully that does turn out to be the case with 'Rangdaari' which has Navraj Hans come together with composer-singer Arko P. Mukherjee. With Munir Niazi as the lyricist alongside him, Arko comes up with a piece that has a foottapping appeal to it, though not in a way that would set it up well for a chartbuster status.

However, what really turns out to be pretty much weird though is 'Challa Chaap Chunariya'. While one just can't decipher the kind of lyrics that have been put together by Deepak Ramola, the music by Sandesh Shandilya too is so boring that you find yourself skipping on to the next song pronto.

There is no respite though in the album as Sandesh's second song, 'Raat Din Yunhi', too fails to leave any kind of impression whatsoever. Papon, who is in the eye of storm currently, pairs up with Shradha Mishra for this Faiz Ahmad Faiz written track that just doesn't have the kind of sound to it that would make you listen to it again in a repeat mode.

By the time Anupama Raag composed and Gaurav Solanki written 'Azaad Kar' comes in next, you know that it is going to be a point of no return for Daas Dev. With one ultra boring track after another filling in the album, you know that this Swanand Kirkire rendered track would be forgotten pronto as well.

This is the reason why you go through mere formalities when Vipin Patwa's 'Tain To Uttey' comes in next. A Bulle Shah song that has Javed Bashir as the singer, it could well arrive at one of the high passion sequences in the film. On the other hand Shamir Tandon composed and Sameer Anjaan written 'Marne Ka Shauk' seems to be a song that is set for the second half of the film and could only end up slowing down the narrative of the film.

The music of Daas Dev is as boring as it gets and can be easily skipped.
