When a film arrives with a title like Behen Hogi Teri, you aren't too inclined to take the music of the film too seriously. Also, the promo of this Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Haasan starrer also gives an impression of yet another Delhi based love story in the offering with a largely local appeal to it. However, once you listen to the album just a couple of times, you are truly hooked on to the soundtrack that has a rich offering of as many as seven songs.
The kick-start is just perfect with Kaushik-Akash-Guddu (KAG) for JAM8 bringing Arijit Singh on board for Tera Hoke Rahoon. If at all one would list down songs that have been created this year for lovelorn hearts, this Bipin Das written number would be counted for sure. Right from the manner in which it begins to the way it continues and then seamlessly reaches conclusion, you pick everything that it has to offer.
Just when you are beginning to feel all deep down in love there arrives the foot tapping Jaanu Meri Jaan from Shaan that has been recreated by Rishi Rich for Behen Hogi Teri. While these experiments have just about 50% strike rate when it comes to being liked by the current generation, if response to this Juggy D, Shivi & Raftaar song is any indication then R.D. Burman and Anand Bakshi won't be disappointed. A song that is set for finding a straight forward entry into the collections of a DJ, 'Jaanu Meri Jaan' is a winner already.
The best of the lot though is reserved for the middle portion of the album once Yash Narvekar makes his entry with Teri Yaadon Mein. A superb track that could well have found an entry into the biggest of the musical entertainers from Bollywood, this one is written quite well too by Yash along with Amit Dhanani. This one is yet another easy pick for those in love and with Yasser Desai and Pawni Pandey doing quite well as singers, the entire sound of 'Teri Yaadon Mein' stays on with you for long. In fact the song deserves a repeat hearing and hence Yash also pairs up with Sukriti Kakaar for a 'reprise version'.
As for those who like their music to be quintessentially Bollywood with loads of mush and romance in the offering, there is Amjad-Nadeem composed and Rohit Sharma written Tenu Na Bol Pawaan. This one appears in two versions as well. While the first has Yasser Desai and Jyotica Tangri pairing up, the one that follows is a solo by Asees Kaur. Both the versions are easy on ears, carry a soulful appeal and add on well to the theme that the music of Behen Hogi Teri has followed for its running duration so far. Hear this one and you would like to play it all over again.
There is good fun element added too with Sahil Solanki and Jyotica Tangri pairing up for the devotional-parody version of Kaala Chashma. The song has been enjoying a good shelf life by moving on from being a Punjabi non-film chartbuster to a film version in Baar Baar Dekho to now being featured as a 'jaagran' track in Behen Hogi Teri. Composed by Jaidev Kumar and written by Sonu Saggu, this one should do well in the film's narrative with Parry G's rap fitting into the mould too.
The music of Behen Hogi Teri is entertaining from first till the last song. Period!
