New Update

Krazzy 4, the next film from Rakesh Roshan's stable, seems to have everything in place. The music, as usual, has been composed by younger brother Rajesh Roshan, and has enough variety in it to please all. The songs are all of a certain standard and should all do well in varying degrees. Along with the catchy music, the film also has the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Rakhi Sawant flaunting their stuff in the three item numbers. All in all, one can only call it a winner.

If there is a number which is bound to be a chartbuster, it is this ? Krazzy 4, the title track which has been composed by Asif Ali Beg and sung by Vishal Dadlani of Vishal-Shekhar fame. This number has it all, pulsating music, snazzy rendition and catchy, contemporary lyrics. This is certainly a winner. In its second remixed version in the album, courtesy DJ Aqeel, the number retains its flavour and is as catchy as they come.

Dekhta Hai Tu Kya with lyrics by Javed Akhtar, has been rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan and Kirti Sagathia. This is somewhat in the tradition of the by-now-legendary, Beedi Jaleyle number. But this one has less of a rustic or folk feel to it. Hence it loses out somewhat on the appeal of the former, but makes for that with Sunidhi's rendition. This number too is quite catchy and should climb the charts. DJ Aqeel has remixed this song as well with ?lan and it should be a hit on the dance floors.

Break Free, the third song in this album, is as good as another version of the title track Krazzy 4. There is just some slight tinkering of lyrics here but it, more or less, sounds the same. The lyricist (Asif) and singer, Vishal, remain the same as well. If anything else, the number seems to grow on one with every hearing. It has an attitude, which is extremely infectious and one is caught and carried away by the fervor of the song. The visual impact, we are sure is going to be quite hardhitting. This too has a remixed version by Aqeel, which is quite commendable. Keeps the flavour of the song and yet gives it something extra.

So far, the composer, Roshan, seems to have given us the expected, contemporary music. But with the next two numbers on the album, O Re Lakad and Ik Rupaiya, he seems to move into an entirely different zone. These two songs are a throwback to the Eighties and Seventies in the manner in which they have been composed and rendered. The first of these two, O Re Lakad has been written by Javed Akhtar with Kailash Kher, Neeraj Shridhar and Sowmya Raoh lending their voices to it. But despite being a throwback to times past, it retains its contemporary touch in the chorus. What is unique about the song, is that in a long time, one hears melody, a quality rare in Hindi film music. It has Rajesh Roshan's signature style written large on it.

Ik Rupiya, the second number, is almost parodic in tone, hence the composer and the lyricist have lots of room to play about, which they do. You can see the fun that they are having. Roshan, specially gets a chance to experiment with different styles of music from the down the ages. The number has a mock-serious quality and it belongs to that genre of songs whose appeal is enhanced when seen along with the visuals and in context. Sudesh Bhonsle excels in this song. He gets a chance to do what he does best, play around with his voice. He is supported by Kirti Sagathia, Bhavin Dhanak, Labh Janjua, Rahul Vaidye and Jimmy Moses. Besides being a melodic journey down the ages, the song is a ?fun' number and should do well.

The album ends with singer Ankita Sachdev singing the national anthem. There's not much that one can say for it, besides the fact that it has been tunefully rendered by the singer.

All in all, the music of Krazzy 4 seems to be quite in place, with a couple of surprises tucked in. It has its surefire chartbusting numbers and some truly melodic ones as well. This one surely has all signs of emerging as the winner.
