In this slacker bro-mantic comedy, writing partners Dulal and Mainak dream of shaking up the Bollywood film industry in India with their script "Sulemani Keeda" (Hindi street slang for "Pain in the Ass"). When they're not being rejected by producers who refuse to read their script, they lurk around bookstores and poetry jams, shamelessly hitting on girls. All seems well until Dulal meets Ruma, a beautiful photographer who makes him question his choice to sell out. Amit V Masurkar's debut feature as a writer-director captures the creative spirit of Mumbai where writers, directors, and actors come from all over India with the dream of working in the film industry. After premiering to full houses at the Mumbai Film Festival, it traveled to festivals in Zurich, London, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Mississauga, Oaxaca and got rave reviews in the press. On December 5, Sulemani Keeda released in seven cities in India. Produced by Datta Dave and Chaitanya Hegde of Tulsea Pictures in association with Deepa Tracy, Sailesh Dave and Suresh Mhatre of Mantra/ Runaway Entertainment, Sulemani Keeda is fast achieving cult status.
