Heropanti Movie Review-In Short
Boy and girl love each other but the leading lady’s emotional, villainous dad and evil brothers aren’t too happy with their romance and this age old formula forms the plot of Heropanti. Yaaawwwwnn...
Heropanti Movie Review-Verdict
This film certainly doesn’t belong to this era and has surely been transported here through a time machine from the 70s. You will come to know what the film holds for you in the first fifteen minutes itself and post that it is two and a half hours of intolerable torture as the movie makes you cringe with its cheesy dialogues and just for the heck of it action and romance.
Heropanti Movie Review-Story Plot
Things go into a state of frenzy in Jatland, when Chaudhary Sahab’s eldest daughter Renu (Sandeepa Dhar) elopes with her boyfriend on the day of her marriage. Choudhary, who is the patriarch of a Jat family of goons, starts a search for his daughter and her boyfriend Rakesh. To know their whereabouts, Renu’s family kidnaps Rakesh’s friends including our ever-stylish Bablu (Tiger Shroff) jiski Heropanti jaati nahi. Babloo falls in love with Chaudhary’s younger daughter Dimpy however, it takes him the entire first half of the film to realise that she is the menacing Choudhary's darling daughter.
Now Dimpy is a case study in herself, despite being a part of a conservative Jat family, she roams around wearing teeny-weeny blouses, dangerously low-waist ghaghras and transparent dupattas... Now how that was ok with her father, when his house is forever full of men, is something that’s completely beyond our understanding. Also in a family where a woman is not allowed to choose her life partner Dimpy, who is her father’s pet, secretly aspires to be Miss Haryana….
Moving forward, Dimpy falls in love with Bablu when he safeguards her honour and fights the villains single-handedly. He also takes her to a nightclub in Delhi right under her father’s nose. The action and the emotional drama that follows next, is what the rest of the film is all about.
Heropanti Movie Review-Performances
Tiger, who marks his debut with the film, can do somersaults, beat the goons, has a body to die for but sadly can’t act. He will have to work on his acting skills and dialogue delivery as it lacks that much-required punch. That said, we have to add that he is the only saving grace of the film and is quite likeable. Kriti Sanon doesn’t have much to do in this film than show her midriff. Much to our respite, Prakash Raj for once is not playing a comic villain. He is good in certain scenes but at times his acting looks too forced and you may find him funny in some emotional scenes as well. Sunil Grover, who makes a special appearance in the film, gives us some much-needed respite from the action and emotional overdose.
Heropanti Movie Review-Direction
Mr. Sabbir Khan this film was projected as an action film however, there was too little action in it and watching it in slow motion not only made it look very unreal but also painful for us to watch. The film could have been better if someone else would have wielded the megaphone and Tiger certainly deserved a much-better launch than this.
Heropanti Movie Review-Music
The film’s music is a winner and half of its success can be attributed to it. While whistle baja and aa raat bhar are good party numbers, the soulful Rabba reminds you of the quintessential YRF songs. The emotional Tabaah too hits the right notes.
Heropanti Movie Review-Final Word
One time watch if you are a die-hard Bollywood fan, rest can buy X-Men’s tickets.
