New Update

Comedy continues to be the fancied flavour of the season and director Sachin Yardi too jumps on the bandwagon with his latest film, which is all about a trio who become modern day Robin Hoods by chance. The premise of the film is worthy of a comedy and the movie begins very well before it reduces to total mayhem. There are potshots plenty at TV soaps, despite Ekta Kapoor being the film's producer, potshots at reporters and on the establishment as a whole, all perfect fodder for a comedy .

The film is about three losers in life, Akshay (Tusshar Kapoor), a crime reporter, Joshi (Anupam Kher), a retired accountant, and Lambodar (Rajpal Yadav). They live in the same wing of a housing complex, the C complex, and share their woes together. Tired of being used and abused, the trio hatch a plot to extract money from Joshi's ungrateful son. They form a make believe mafia gang and make extortion calls. What starts of a one time thing actually snowballs into a something big as the common man finds a saviour in C Kkompany and take refuge with them to solve their problems. The losers suddenly turn social activists and the film loses its potential.

Also weaved into the film is the underworld angle, with Mithun Chakraborty playing Dattu Satellite, an underworld don who loves watching Balaji soaps. His sister (Raima Sen) is in love with Akshay. The real laughs come from Mithunda, who is in full form as the underworld Don with a fascination for soaps. Ekta Kapoor plays herself in the movie as she makes an appearance in a scene opposite the Don. The scene is quite hilarious as are the Don's scenes with Paravti Bhabhi of the K soap, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. Other celebs like Karan Johar and Mahesh Bhatt also make an appearance in the film. The director reveals a flair for comedy and the first half of the film bears testimony to that. But once the losers turn do gooders, the film loses some of its punch and humour. Also somewhere down the line, the humour becomes a little repetitive and tiresome.

One of the film's strength is its talented cast. Tusshar is very aptly cast and does full justice to his role in the movie. Anupam Kher has already proven what a great actor he is, comedy or tragedy, and he lives upto his promise. Rajpal Yadav too pitches in with a great effort. Raima Sen is passable. But one of the riveting performances comes from Mithun Chakraborty as the Don. He provides the most laughs and seems to take off from where he left in Don Muthuswamy.

The film's music is just about passable without nothing to write home about. Ditto for the cinematography. The film's first half is very well done but the director is unable to maintain the tempo and the comic spirit right till the end. It lacks consistency. But a good effort by Yardi, nonetheless.
